Greensboro Museum Day Celebrates Art, History, Cultural Attractions
GREENSBORO, NC -- (September 16) -- On Saturday, September 26, 15 local museums, galleries, and organizations will sponsor the first Greensboro Museum Day, an event that celebrates the city's rich culture, history and arts. The public is invited to visit a Greensboro museum or gallery or visit the Greensboro Cultural Center's many occupants and enjoy free or reduced admission and special programs.
A few special events happening this day include free tours at the Weatherspoon Art Museum, Greensboro Historical Museum and Green Hill, gardening activities at the Greensboro Children's Museum, and shows at the Center for Visual Artists called "Artstock 2009" and "Mayhem and More."
Greensboro Museum Day will be the first in a series of collaborative events organized by nearly 20 Greensboro's museums, historical attractions, science centers, art galleries, and cultural organizations during the next several months. The goal is to increase awareness and spread the word about the diverse cultural activities in the city.
