Director of Parks & Recreation Department Selected
GREENSBORO, NC -- (November 24, 2009) – Gregory Jackson has been selected as the City of Greensboro's new director of Parks & Recreation. The selection of Jackson concludes an extensive recruiting and interviewing process. Jackson will assume his role on January 16, 2010, at an annual base salary of $113,500. Jackson, who is currently director of Park Operations & Athletic Services for Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation Department in Charlotte, NC, will oversee the City’s Parks & Recreation Department’s efforts to provide quality, diverse year-round leisure opportunities for residents and visitors of Greensboro. He brings more than 20 years of experience working in parks and recreation to his new role. Previous work experience includes serving as park district general manager for Mecklenburg Park & Recreation Department, facilities supervisor for Lee County Parks & Recreation Department in Ft. Myers, Fla., and assistant park program supervisor for Collier County Parks & Recreation Department in Naples, Fla.
Jackson holds a bachelor’s degree in sports management and a master’s degree in public administration.
