The effort, led by the Warnersville Historical and Beautification Society, will honor the memory of Shalonda Poole, who was murdered nearly 19 years ago.

A memorial service will take place Friday, April 24, at 7 pm at Jones Elementary School, 502 South St., with Mayor Yvonne Johnson serving as the keynote speaker. Also, a ribbon cutting celebration will be held Saturday, April 25, at 12 noon at the Constance Griffin Baseball Field, located behind Warnersville Recreation Center, 601 Doak St. There will be food, live music and activities for children and adults. Professionals will also be on hand to provide child safety tips.
