Public Invited to Share Ideas on Future of High Point Road/West Lee Street Corridor

GREENSBORO, NC -- (September 16, 2009) – The City of Greensboro is moving forward with the second study for land-use and development recommendations for the High Point Road/West Lee Street corridor and your input is needed. A public workshop will be held Tuesday, September 22, from 6-8 pm at the Doubletree Hotel, 3030 High Point Rd, to give residents a chance to voice their opinions about the future design of the corridor.

Workshop participants will be reintroduced to the findings of the first study on the corridor, which was adopted by Greensboro City Council in December 2008, and will help identify design standards and improvement approaches for the area between South Eugene and Veasley streets.

The workshop will be hosted by the Central Gateway Corridor Partnership, formerly known as the Citizen Steering Committee, which consists of High Point Road/West Lee Street businesses, property owners and surrounding neighborhood representatives. The Partnership was formed to help guide the implementation of the corridor plan’s vision and recommendations.

This is the first in a series of public meetings related to the corridor. The results of these workshops will be used by the Partnership and the City’s Planning Department to develop specific design guidelines and tools to be used as new development and redevelopment proposals are made for the corridor.
