City Invites Public to a Community Update Meeting on Stimulus Funding

GREENSBORO, NC – (November 5, 2009) – The City of Greensboro invites the public to attend “Where the Money is Going: A Stimulus Funding Update” on Thursday, November 12, from 2-4 pm at the Greensboro Historical Museum, 130 Summit Ave.

At the community meeting, City staff will explain how funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 is being used to improve the quality of life in Greensboro. The Recovery Act is an economic stimulus package enacted by Congress in February of this year to provide a boost to the country’s economy in the wake of the economic downturn by creating new jobs, saving existing ones, spurring economic activity and investing in long-term economic growth.

City staff will give a breakdown of how the City is using stimulus funding it’s received, what type of funding is available, and how area businesses can apply for funding.

Also, the City will unveil its new stimulus Web site designed to provide residents with an easy tool to track stimulus funding received by the City and review the progress of Recovery Act projects. The site includes information about available funding, how to apply for funds, the number of jobs created by Recovery Act funding and projects, and much more.

For more information about the community meeting, call 336-373-2002.
