         Storm Related Clean-Up Continues

GREENSBORO, NC -- (June 4, 2009) – City of Greensboro crews continue working to clean up debris and damage caused by Wednesday night’s, June 3, flooding and thunderstorms.

Portions of several major streets were blocked by flood waters and several City facilities suffered minor flooding and power remained out this morning at the City’s Farmers’ Curb Market on Yanceyville Street. Stormwater maintenance crews are working to clear any debris or blockages that resulted from the storm and other crews are working to follow up on reports of downed trees on City property.

At this time there is no evidence of any damage sustained to any roads or bridges in the city. Most City traffic control lights have been returned to service. To report downed trees and limbs or a malfunctioning traffic signal call the City’s Contact Center at 373-2489.

Weather forecasts include more rain later today and tonight. Residents are advised to be prepared and listen for weather warnings and watches from local media. Do not try to drive over a flooded road and if your car stalls in a flooded area, abandon it. For more safety tips, visit the City’s Emergency Management division at Greensboro Ready.
