Tip-a-Cop Fund-raiser for Special Olympics Set for June 5
GREENSBORO, NC – (June 2, 2009) – On Friday, June 5, the Greensboro Police Department (GPD) and Guilford Metro 9-1-1 (GM 9-1-1) will team up with Longhorn Steakhouse restaurants for the annual Tip-a-Cop fund-raising event for the Special Olympics. Both Greensboro locations of Longhorn Steakhouse, 2925 Battleground Ave. and 6012 Landmark Center Blvd., will participate. During the event, members of GPD and GM 9-1-1 will help the wait staff at each restaurant from 5-10 pm by delivering bread and non-alcoholic beverages. Customers will be asked to make a donation, above their wait staff tip, which will be given to Special Olympics. In addition to assisting the wait staff, members of GPD and GM 9-1-1 will be selling Special Olympics t-shirts and hats, as well as GPD challenge coins. All proceeds raised will benefit Special Olympics of North Carolina, and a majority of the funds will remain in Guilford County.
