Interim Director of Parks and Recreation Selected
GREENSBORO, NC -- (March 17, 2009) – Interim City Manager Bob Morgan announced today the selection of Dr. Anthony Wade, Director of the City’s Human Relations Department, as Interim Director of Parks and Recreation.
Wade joined the City in 2007 as Director of Human Relations. He brings many years of experience working in government and has a strong background working in personnel management. Before coming to Greensboro, Wade worked as Manager of Employment, Compensation and Equal Opportunity and Community Outreach for the City of Denver, Director of Human Relations for New Hanover County, N.C., and Director of Equal Opportunity Treatment, Human Relations Education Section, for Lowry Air Force Base in Colorado.
“The Parks and Recreation Department has an outstanding technical team which will be well complimented by Dr. Wade’s extensive managerial background,” stated Morgan. In accepting the interim position, Dr. Wade stated, “I welcome the opportunity to work with an award-winning organization such as the Parks and Recreation Department through its transition. And, I look forward to bringing my experience and background to bear as we build on the foundation of the organization and raise it to new heights."
Wade holds a doctorate in organizational performance and change from Colorado State University. He will continue to oversee the operations of the Human Relations Department while serving as Interim Director and receive an annual salary of $113,514.
