 Annual Water Festival Kicks Off Today

 GREENSBORO, NC (April 8, 2009) – The City of Greensboro Water Resources and the Parks and Recreation departments will play host to area fifth graders as part of the annual “Water Festival”. The even will be held Wednesday, April 8, from 9 am to 1 pm at Bryan Park /Lake Townsend Marina/ Townsend Water Treatment Plant, 6275 Bryan Park Rd. in Browns Summit. 

More than 300 students from the Guilford County and local private school systems will have the opportunity to participate in eight fun and exciting hands-on water activities that support the fifth grade curriculum.

Representatives from City, County, and State government, along with staff from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) will be available to give demonstrations and provide information on a variety of topics including the City’s water distribution system, water cycle, water conservation, aquatics, water treatment chemicals, and pollution prevention. In addition, student teachers from UNCG will gain valuable teaching skills by giving scheduled demonstrations and by serving as group leaders and presenters.
