Register for AARP Safe Driving Class by October 1

GREENSBORO, NC -- (September 24, 2010) -- Residents who are 50 years of age and older interested in taking a safe driving class on October 13, must register by Friday, October 1, by calling the Smith Senior Center at 336-375-2234. Space is limited to 20 participants.

The class, sponsored by AARP and hosted by the senior center, takes place 12:30-4:30 pm Wednesday, October 13, at the center and focuses on current rules of the road, how to operate a vehicle more safely, and how to make adjustments to age-related changes in vision, hearing, and reaction time.

The cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Reservations can be held by mailing a $5 non-refundable check, payable to the “City of Greensboro,” to Smith Senior Center, 2401 Fairview St., Greensboro, NC, 27405. The $5 will be deducted from the total cost of the class and the remaining balance will be due on the day of class with a check made payable to “AARP.” AARP members should bring their membership cards to class.

Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate to present to their automobile insurance company to see if the class qualifies them for an insurance discount.
