City Celebrates Bike-to-Work Week May 17-21

GREENSBORO, NC (May 14, 2010) – May is National Bike Month and to recognize it, Greensboro Mayor William H. Knight has declared May 17-21 as Bike-to-Work Week and May 21 as Bike-to-Work Day in Greensboro. The mayor’s proclamation encourages “our residents to recognize the importance of sharing the road with cyclists on our streets and highways and to participate in cycling activities to whatever extent possible during this time, including cycling to work.”

During Bike-to-Work Week, bike refueling stations will be set-up at various locations throughout the city during the morning commute. Also, activities will be held through the month to inform residents about the benefits of bicycling on their health and the environment, and to encourage them to ride their bikes as an alternative to driving their vehicles.
