City and US Census Bureau Wants Your Help to ‘March to the Mailbox’
Volunteer for event and be a part of history

GREENSBORO, NC (March 9, 2010) – The 2010 US Census forms will be mailed or delivered to your home starting March 15. To help increase participation in the Census, a number of “March to the Mailbox” Blitz events will be held Saturday, April 10, in hard-to-count neighborhoods throughout Greensboro and the City of Greensboro needs your help to host these events.

A public meeting on how you can help plan, organize and host a “March to the Mailbox” event will be held Thursday, March 11, from 7-9 pm, at the Greensboro Central Library, 219 N. Church St.

More than 150 blitz leaders and volunteers are needed to help encourage residents in neighborhoods with historically low Census mail-in response rates to complete and return their Census form. Events can include potluck dinners, neighborhood block parties and much more. The US Census Bureau will provide hosts with items such as t-shirts, brochures, mugs, flashlights and other giveaway items.

Learn more about becoming a host/volunteer or donating your agency's facility for a blitz, by visiting www.greensboro-nc.gov/Census or by calling Karen Markovics, planner for the City of Greensboro, at 336-412-5759.
