Fire Department Takes "Biggest Winner Challenge" Title
GREENSBORO, NC -- (April 6, 2010) -- The Greensboro Fire Department has won the “Biggest Winner Challenge,” a fitness fund-raiser for local charities that featured 10 Fire Department personnel versus 10 Police Department personnel. Fire participants lost a total of 213.9 pounds compared to 172.5 pounds lost by police.
During the competition, participants raised more than $10,200 for local charities. Police Officer Jack Steinberg was the individual winner, losing 45 pounds. His body fat dropped from 29.9% to 17.9% in eight weeks.
The event was co-sponsored by the Greensboro Sportsplex, CrossFit Greensboro. and Triad Complete Nutrition. Based on the success of the competition, another citywide challenge is being planned.
