City Academy Application Deadline Extended to July 30
GREENSBORO, NC (July 9, 2010) – The City of Greensboro has extended the application deadline for its educational program, Government Works: A City Academy, to July 30.
City Academy teaches participants about City government through hands-on learning and in-depth exercises. It also helps develop future leaders and builds a better community through well-informed, civically engaged residents.
Classes are held weekly from 5:45-9 pm September through November. During the course of the program, participants will tour various City-owned facilities and learn how City departments operate directly from staff and through fun exercises.
The program is free and open to any resident who lives within the corporate limits of the City. Twenty-five people from all Council districts and various backgrounds will be selected. To participate, residents must be at least 18 years old and provide a personal statement saying why they wish to take part in the program. Preference will be given to residents willing to serve on a City board or commission.
