City Offices Closed in Observance of Memorial Day

GREENSBORO, NC (May 20, 2010) – City of Greensboro offices and facilities will be closed Monday, May 31, in observance of Memorial Day. The following services and facilities will operate on a holiday schedule:

  • No garbage, recycling, bulk trash, yard waste, and appliance collections will take place Monday, May 31. Instead, Monday’s collection will take place Tuesday, June 1, and Tuesday’s collection will take place Wednesday, June 2.
  • The White Street Landfill and Solid Waste Transfer Station will both be closed Monday, May 31. Regular hours will resume Tuesday, June 1.
  • The Greensboro Historical Museum and all branches of the Greensboro Public Library will be closed Monday, May 31. Regular hours will resume Tuesday, June 1.
  • Greensboro Transit Authority’s (GTA) bus services will operate on a Saturday schedule with hourly service from 6 am to 10 pm on Monday, May 31.Specialized Community Area Transportation (SCAT) will operate normally and there will be no Career Express service that Monday. Regular service on all GTA routes will resume Tuesday, June 1. Also, please note that HEAT service has ended for the 2009-10 school year. For more information, visit http://www.ridegta.com/.   • All City parks, gardens, lakes, trails and cemeteries will be open Monday, May 31. However, all City recreation centers, Smith Senior Center, Folk Teen Center, the Greensboro Cultural Arts Center, Caldcleugh Multicultural Arts Center, the Greensboro Sportsplex, and Parks & Recreation’s offices and all its programs will not operate that day. Regular hours for all Parks & Recreation facilities and programs will resume Tuesday, June 1.
