City Residential Trash, Recycling, & Bulk Collection Changes Begin August 9
GREENSBORO, NC – (August 6, 2010) – Starting Monday, August 9, the City of Greensboro’s residential trash, recycling, and bulk collection service day will change for some Greensboro customers. The changes are being made to increase efficiency and balance service routes.
All residents who currently receive collection service have been mailed a postcard - even residents who do not have a change in their service - that shows their collection day as well as their recycling and bulk collection weeks. Residents can also visit www.greensboro-nc.gov/ServiceChanges to see their collection day or call 373-CITY (2489).
In addition to possible trash collection day and recycling service week changes, the schedule for bulk collection (items too large to fit in a trash container, such as furniture) will change from weekly pickup to every other week pickup for all residents. Bulk items will be picked up on the same weeks that recycling items are collected. Yard waste and appliance collection services will not change. This means:
- Yard waste is collected on your regular service day. No appointment is needed.
- Appliances are collected by appointment. Call 373-CITY (2489) to request pickup.
Residential trash and recycling collection service days have not changed in more than 10 years. During this time, the City has grown and service needs have changed. The City has designed new routes and days to provide more efficient and balanced service to all areas of Greensboro. These changes were designed to minimize the number of residents affected; so many residents will not have any change in their service day.
With the collection day change and new routes, City drivers may come at different times than before. Residents should have their trash and/or recycling containers to the curb by 7 am and remove them by 7 pm. If a container is still full at 5 pm, residents can call 373-CITY (2489) to report a missed pickup.
