City Embarks on New Communications Projects
GREENSBORO, NC – (September 13, 2010) – In an effort to strengthen communications with the public, the City of Greensboro is embarking on two new projects: social media and a redesign of its website www.greensboro-nc.gov.
Various City departments and divisions are creating pages on sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, flickr, MySpace and others. Links to these sites are listed on the City’s website on an official Social Media Sites page. This page is accessible by clicking on the “Follow Us” logo on the top right section of www.greensboro-nc.gov. The page also links to the City’s Public Social Media Comments Policy.
“The City’s social media sites are another way to spread the word about all Greensboro has to offer,” says Assistant City Manager Denise Turner. “There are so many events and good news coming from the City, having all avenues of communication open to the public to share this news with is positive for all involved.”
Also, the City will soon begin redesigning its website to modernize its overall look and feel and make it more user-friendly. To help develop the site, you are invited to take a survey to give us your feedback. The survey can be accessed from the home page of the website or through this link: www.surveymonkey.com/s/MMQXCJJ. The new site is expected to go online by April 1, 2011.
“While social media enhances the City’s communications, its official website is the main communications channel for most people,” Turner says. “We want to make sure our City’s website continues to be center stage in how we interact with the public online.”
