Public Invited to Comment on City’s 2010-2014 Consolidated Plan

GREENSBORO, NC – (June 23, 2010) – The City of Greensboro is hosting two open house meetings to present and hear comments on its draft 2010-2014 Consolidated Plan: A Plan for A Resilient Community for Housing and Community Development Activities. The meetings are from 12:30-2 pm and from 4:30-6 pm Tuesday, June 29, in Elm Street Center’s Regency Room, 203 S. Elm St.

The 2010-2015 Consolidated Plan will help guide Greensboro’s housing and community development activities for the next five years. It is based on significant research and data on the City’s growth, economic status, and the health of its neighborhoods and housing stock. The plan is primarily focused on the City’s housing needs, but it also seeks to better coordinate housing development, job growth, and transportation networks to make more efficient use of public and private investments while promoting a more sustainable environment.

Review a draft of the plan at www.greensboro-nc.gov/ConsolidatedPlan. The plan will be submitted to City Council for adoption August 2 and then will be submitted to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. For more information, contact Sue Schwartz or Jeff Sovich at 336-373-2349.
