City's Mid-Year Crime Stats Show Reductions
GREENSBORO, NC -- (July 12, 2010) -- City of Greensboro mid-year crime statistics for January-June of this year show a 25 percent drop in homicides, a 24 percent reduction in violent crime and a 10 percent decrease in property crime. Overall, Part 1 Offenses, which include murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny and auto theft are down by 11 percent compared to the first half of 2009.
Not surprised by the report, Greensboro Police Chief Tim Bellamy was pleased that lower crime stats have continued through the second quarter of 2010 and he credits the stats to the relationship between residents and police and efforts of police employees. “The police department and its employees are committed to providing our citizens with a safe city to live and work,” Bellamy said.
