Smith Senior Center Hosts Safe Driving Class for Seniors

GREENSBORO, NC -- (June 22, 2010) -- Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department’s Smith Senior Center hosts an AARP Safe Driving class for seniors, 50 years and older, from 10 am to 2 pm Wednesday, July 7, at 2401 Fairview St.

Instructor Bill Sutton will provide a refresher course to help seniors remain safe on today’s roads. Participants will learn about current rules of the road, how to operate their vehicles more safely, and how to adjust to common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time.

A minimum of 10 participants must register for the class to be held. The fee is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. To register, make checks payable to AARP and include your phone number. Mail your check to Smith Senior Center, 2401 Fairview St., Greensboro, NC 27405, or drop it off at the center. Registration deadline is Friday, July 2.

Many insurance companies offer a discount to seniors taking the class. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate to present to their insurance company to see if they qualify for a discount.
