Annual Ecumenical Celebration of Thanksgiving Set for November 21
GREENSBORO, NC – (November 16, 2010) – The 28th annual Ecumenical Celebration of Thanksgiving is 4 pm Sunday, November 21, at Guilford College's Dana Auditorium. This year's theme is “And Still, We Give Thanks."
The celebration, co-sponsored by the Greensboro Human Relations Commission, includes representatives from the community’s major faith traditions. Narrators for the occasion are attorney Neelam Bhardwaj and Rev. Howard Chubbs. Participants include the Vietnamese Dancers, singer and guitarist Pedro Casterena, musicians Louis Allen and Don and Kristy Milhollin, Newcomers’ School students, and the Triad Tapestry Children’s Chorus.
As a gift to the community, the Piedmont Interfaith Council (PIC) presented the first Ecumenical Celebration of Thanksgiving in 1983 and the Greensboro Human Relations Commission been involved since 2004. The purpose of the celebration is to bring together people of all ages, traditions, races, religions, socio-economic levels, and national origins to personify the US motto “E Pluribus, Unum – Out of Many, One.”
