Gillespie Golf Course's New Practice Facility Opens June 17
GREENSBORO, NC -- (June 11, 2010) -- Gillespie Golf Course's new practice facility and driving range opens Thursday, June 17. To celebrate, a grand opening ceremony takes place at 10 am, featuring representatives of the City's Parks and Recreation Department, First Tee of the Triad, and Joseph M. Bryan Foundation, as well as Mayor William H. Knight and members of City Council.
After the ceremony, tours of the facility and new classroom will be available.
In 2009, Gillespie became a home facility for the First Tee of the Triad golf program, which introduces the sport to those who otherwise might not have an opportunity to play. With a generous donation from the Joseph M. Bryan Foundation, the existing driving range was expanded to include two large practice areas, hitting mats for use in inclement weather, and a state-of-the-art chipping green and sand bunker.
