City Plans Several ‘Google Greensboro’ Events as Application Deadline Approaches
GREENSBORO, NC (March 23, 2010) – The last day to nominate Greensboro as a testing site for Google’s new ultra high-speed broadband network is Friday, March 26, at 8 pm. With only a few days remaining before the City of Greensboro submits its bid, it is planning a series of events to get residents involved in the effort. Today, Tuesday, March 23, two Google Mobile Tours will be held at the Kathleen Price Bryan Family YMCA, 501 W. Market St., from 11:30 am to 2 pm and from 5-8 pm. The Mobile Tours include volunteers with laptops on-hand to help the public submit their nominations for Greensboro on-site. Additional Google Mobile Tours will be held in the community throughout the week. The first 30 individuals who nominate Greensboro at these events will receive a free Google Fiber T-Shirt (while supplies last). The City will also publish a draft of its Google project application today for residents to view and provide feedback. The draft will be available at http://googleforgreensboroapplication.wikispaces.com/. Other opportunities for the public to nominate Greensboro will be held during the week leading up a major community drive event on Friday, March 26.
