Outdoor Ice Skating Rink Opens November 17

GREENSBORO, NC -- (November 10, 2010) -- The WFMY News 2 Winterfest ice skating rink opens to the public at 4 pm Wednesday, November 17, at Festival Park, 200 N. Davie St. A grand opening celebration takes place Saturday, November 20. Rink activities include public skating, hockey, exhibition figure skating, and rental for private parties until closing on January 22, 2011.

The rink, which is 40-feet by 85-feet, is open to the public from 4-9 pm Mondays through Thursdays while public school is in session, 4-10 pm on Fridays, 11 am to 10 pm on Saturdays, and 12 noon to 6 pm on Sundays. On school holidays, Monday through Thursday hours are 11 am to 10 pm.

Admission to the rink, including skates, is $8 per person. Groups of 20 or more skate for $6 per person. For more information, go online to www.piedmontwinterfest.com or call 336-852-1515.

The City's Parks and Recreation Department is providing logistic and utility support for the rink.
