City’s New Land Development Ordinance Now in Effect

GREENSBORO, NC – (July 21, 2010) – The City of Greensboro’s Land Development Ordinance (LDO), the source for standards and regulations related to land-use and development, is now in effect. It represents the largest update and overhaul to the City’s development regulations in nearly 20 years. The new ordinance, which was adopted by Greensboro City Council on June 15, provides flexibility and modern development standards, and supports quality infill and mixed-use development.

To give the public time to transition from the old Unified Development Ordinance (UDO), which was formerly the source for land-use and development standards and regulations, to the new LDO, City Council will allow the use of the UDO until July 1, 2011.

View the LDO on the City’s website at www.greensboro-nc.gov/LDO. Hard copies of the document can be purchased for $21 from the City’s Planning Department at the Melvin Municipal Office Building, 300 W. Washington St.

For more information about the LDO, call Planning at 336-373-2144.
