Judge Issues Preliminary Injunction in Lost Dimensions Nuisance Case

GREENSBORO, NC (January 28, 2010) – Superior Court Judge Andy Cromer entered a preliminary injunction today against Lost Dimensions, a nightclub located at 510 Farragut St. in Greensboro. The injunction is the latest step in a civil nuisance abatement case brought by the City of Greensboro on behalf of the State of North Carolina. Under the terms of the injunction, Lost Dimensions will close immediately until the case goes to trial.

"Today's injunction will stop the continuing problems at this location until a trial is held on this matter," said City Attorney Terry Wood.

The property is owned by Clarence “Bucky” Jernigan and operated by Darryl McCarroll.  Lost Dimensions has a long history of criminal violations and problems, including prostitution, drug violations, fights and assaults.

Officers from the Greensboro Police Department and agents with the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) Division have been investigating the club over the last six months.

“The Greensboro Police Department has responded to calls and complaints from this place for several years,” said Police Chief Tim Bellamy. “This property is clearly a nuisance, and working together, we are providing a permanent solution for the community. This injunction is a step forward in our efforts to protect the public.”

“The nuisance abatement law provides a tool that local communities can use to stop criminal activities at places like these for good,” added ALE Director John Ledford. “We can solve the problem once and for all, and hopefully give the neighbors of this property and the community some peace.”
