McGirt-Horton Library to Close During Transition to New Facility

GREENSBORO, NC -- (July 26, 2010) -- The McGirt-Horton Branch of the Greensboro Public Library will close from August 9-25 to move into its new building. The library, which is located at 2509 Phillips Ave., will open in the new location on August 26 in the same shopping center at the corner of Phillips and Woodbriar avenues.

While the branch is closed, customers will be able to return books using the current outdoor book return. Books on hold can be picked up at Central Library.

In 2006, voters approved $3.5 million to construct the new 10,000-square-foot library. The building will be one of the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certified libraries in North Carolina.
