Operation Medicine Drop Takes Place April 24

GREENSBORO, NC -- (April 9, 2010) -- A program designed to provide residents a safe and secure way to dispose of unneeded or expired medications takes place from 11 am to 1 pm Saturday, April 24, at six area Walgreens stores. Called Operation Medicine Drop, the event features law enforcement officers at each site to receive and dispose of the medications in a safe and secure way.

Medications should be dropped off in their original containers, which will be destroyed to protect personal information. No sharps (needles or lancets) are allowed. Participating Walgreens include:

  • 1600 Spring Garden St., Greensboro
  • 3703 Lawndale Rd., Greensboro
  • 300 E. Cornwallis Ave., Greensboro
  • 3701 High Point Rd., Greensboro
  • 4701 W. Market St., Greensboro
  • 304 N. Main St., Kernersville

The local sponsors of Operation Medicine Drop include Greensboro Police Department and the City's Environmental Services Department.
