GYC Spring Membership Drive Begins

GREENSBORO, NC -- (March 1, 2010) -- The Greensboro Youth Council (GYC) is conducting its bi-annual Spring Membership Drive now through the first week of April. Joining GYC is a great way for Guilford County high school students to build resumes, become community volunteers, receive leadership experience, and meet new people.

Orientation for all interested students will be 6-6:30 pm on both March 11 and 25 at the GYC conference room, 501 Yanceyville St. Each orientation session will be followed by a full council meeting. To become a GYC member, students are required to fill out an application, attend an orientation session, and volunteer ten hours through the organization.

Once members, students must volunteer a certain number of hours each month during the school year to remain in good standing. GYC members organize more than 15 large projects annually, including the GYC Carnival, the largest youth-run event in the state.

For more information, or to receive an application, call 336-373-2738, or go online at www.greensboro-nc.gov/leisure/gyc.
