City Offices Closed in Observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day
GREENSBORO, NC (January 11, 2010) – City of Greensboro offices and facilities will be closed Monday, January 18, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The following services and facilities will operate on a holiday schedule:
- No garbage, recycling, bulk trash, yard waste and appliance collections will take place Monday, January 18. Instead, Monday’s collection will take place Tuesday, January 19, and Tuesday’s collection will take place Wednesday, January 20.
- The White Street Landfill and Solid Waste Transfer Station will both be closed Monday, January 18. Regular hours will resume Tuesday, January 19.
- The Greensboro Historical Museum and all branches of the Greensboro Public Library will be closed Monday, January 18. Regular hours will resume Tuesday, January 19.
- Greensboro Transit Authority’s (GTA) bus service will operate hourly throughout the day and evening Monday, January 18. HEAT Route 74 will not operate on that Monday, while HEAT Route 75 will provide reduced service. SCAT and Career Express will run as normal. Regular service will resume to all GTA services on Tuesday, January 19. For more information, visit www.ridegta.com. - All parks, gardens, lakes, trails and cemeteries will be open Monday, January 18. The Greensboro Sportsplex will also be open. However, all City recreation centers, Smith Senior Center, Folk Teen Center, Caldcleugh Multicultural Arts Center, Parks & Recreation’s offices and all its programs will not operate that day. Regular hours for all Parks & Recreation facilities and programs will resume Tuesday, January 19.
