Workshop on Proposed NC 68 Connector Planned for January 14

GREENSBORO, NC -- (January 5, 2010) -- An informational workshop on the proposed NC 68 Connector (future I-73) from Pleasant Ridge Road to the existing intersection of NC 68 and US 220 takes place from 4-7 pm Thursday, January 14, at Northwest High School's cafeteria, 5420 Northwest School Rd.

Residents may attend at any time to learn more about the project from NC Department of Transportation (NCDOT) representatives and to participate in the planning process. There won't be any formal presentations. Public comments and information received will be taken into consideration as work on the project develops.

NCDOT proposes to construct a four-lane, divided, controlled-access highway on a new location between NC 68 and US 220. This new roadway will also serve as the future I-73 corridor. The project is about 13 miles in length, including the new location and the widening of the existing location.

For more information about the workshop or to arrange for auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act, contact Ahmad Al-Sharawneh, NCDOT's project development and environmental analysis branch, at 919-733-7844, ext. 258 or by e-mail at aalsharawneh@ncdot.gov.
