City Seeks Public Input on Police Chief Search
GREENSBORO, NC (April 23, 2010) – The City of Greensboro is beginning a national search for a new chief of the Greensboro Police Department and it wants your input. The City will host three public meetings to solicit input on the evaluation criteria that will be used to screen potential police chief candidates.
“In my experience, finding the right police chief relies on having someone the community embraces and supports,” said City Manager Rashad Young. “These community meetings are an important part to this process.”
The meetings coincide with National Peace Officers Week, May 8-14, which pays tribute to officers who serve our communities.
Meeting dates and locations are as follows:
- Monday, May 10, from 12 noon to 1 pm at the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center, Meeting Room 4A, 1921 W. Lee St.
- Monday, May 10, from 6:30-7:30 pm at the Lewis Recreation Center, 3110 Forest Lawn Dr.
- Tuesday, May 11, from 6:30-7:30 pm at Barber Park, 1500 Dans Rd.
Also, take a few minutes to fill out an online survey about the police chief search at www.greensboro-nc.gov/SurveyPC. Your input will be given to the consultant conducting the search.
