NC Potter Demonstrates Craft at Museum on October 30

GREENSBORO, NC -- (October 26, 2010) -- North Carolina potter Travis Owens offers a free demonstration of his craft from 12 noon to 4 pm Saturday, October 30, at the Greensboro Historical Museum, 130 Summit Ave. During the demo, Owens will use native North Carolina clay and a potter's wheel modeled after those used two centuries ago.

Owen and his family operate Jugtown Pottery in Westmoore, a traditional pottery workshop run by the Owens family since 1917. Pieces from Jugtown Pottery make up the Joanne and Arthur Bluethenthal Collection, which is on permanent display at the historical museum.

Limited edition and signed pieces from Jugtown Pottery will also be for sale in the museum gift shop the day of Owen's demonstration.
