Kids, Cans & Ca$h School Winners Announced
GREENSBORO, NC -- (November 17, 2010) -- Winners of the fifth annual Kids, Cans & Ca$h elementary school recycling challenge are Nathanael Greene Elementary, Allen Jay Elementary and Shadybrook Elementary. Each school receives a trophy, a cash award and a pizza party, scheduled for Thursday, November 18.
From November 1-12, Nathanael Greene students collected 634 pounds of aluminum cans for recycling, Allen Jay students collected 492 pounds, and Shadybrook students collected 57 pounds. Each school is paid per pound for the amount of cans collected.
Winners were announced on November 15 in recognition of America Recycles Day. The Kids, Cans & Ca$h challenge, sponsored by Guilford County and the cities of Greensboro and High Point, is held each fall to promote that nationally recognized day dedicated to the promotion of US recycling programs.
