City Council Gives City Manager Positive Review on First Six Months
GREENSBORO, NC -- (April 27, 2010) -- On April 27, Greensboro City Council gave City Manager Rashad Young a positive review on his first six months in office and urged him to keep up the good work. Young then requested Council not give him the three percent pay increase that was part of his employment agreement if he received a satisfactory review.
“As manager, I am not immune to the budget realities the City is facing,” Young said. “In light of the city’s current economic circumstance and the fact that employees will not receive a pay increase this year – as well as the question of an increase for next fiscal year being an outstanding issue – I cannot in good conscience accept a salary increase.”
“Council is very pleased with the direction Rashad is steering the city and he has exceeded expectations,” said Mayor William H. Knight. “We believe he is an individual of high integrity and character. We appreciate the job he is doing.”
