City Reports Two Untreated Sewage Discharges

GREENSBORO, NC -- (September 30, 2010) -- The City of Greensboro reports two discharges of untreated sewage today, Thursday, September 30. In both cases, when the rain stopped, the water receded to prevent further discharge. 

One situation involved approximately 5,750 gallons of untreated wastewater from the sewer lift station located at 502-X Gallimore Dairy Rd. The discharge took place for about two hours due to high flow from rain. The wastewater entered the East Fork Deep River tributary of the Cape Fear River basin.

The second incident involved approximately 1,200 gallons of untreated wastewater from the sewer main located at 4100 Henderson Rd. This discharge took place for about three hours due to high flow from rain. The wastewater entered the North Buffalo 1 tributary of the Haw River basin.
