City Crews Begin Work on Residential Streets

GREENSBORO, NC (February 2, 2010) – City snow-plowing crews continue to work around the clock in 12-hour shifts to clear streets and thoroughfares throughout Greensboro. Crews have nearly completed road-clearing efforts on priority 1 streets – major thoroughfares – and are focusing efforts now on priority 2 streets – minor and residential streets. City of Greensboro crews will continue 24-hour operations until residential streets are cleared.

With temperatures expected to remain near freezing this week, the heavy snowfall from this storm is taking longer to clear. Residents should take precautions when traveling and expect hazardous road conditions, especially in the early morning hours when ice on the road refreezes.

To date, the city has applied more than 2,000 tons of salt on City streets.

Monday’s trash collection will take place today - Tuesday, February 2. Tuesday’s collection will take place on Wednesday, February 3. Thursday and Friday collection will not change.
