Fire Department Warns Residents About False Solicitors

GREENSBORO, NC (December 7, 2010) -- Greensboro residents and business owners are advised to beware of telephone calls from solicitors stating they represent the Greensboro Fire Department (GFD). Fire officials have recently received inquiries from business owners asking if the department endorses telephone solicitation. 

When calling, the false solicitor(s) asks businesses for funds to support the GFD. However, the department does not solicit funds or donations from any person or business through phone solicitation; it's fully funded through the Greensboro City Government General Fund.
