Youth Leadership Greensboro Honors Students

GREENSBORO, NC -- (April 26, 2010) -- Youth Leadership Greensboro (YLG) recently honored high school students who completed its year-long leadership program. Sessions included Politics and the Media, Diversity and Tolerance, Law and Justice, Economy and the Environment, and Serving Society. Participants are required to attend the all-day sessions, complete 20 hours of volunteer service, and conduct a group field study project on a current local problem.

Special recognition was given to two students. Kate Flowers, Weaver Academy, received the Leadership Award for leading by example and having a positive influence on others in all aspects of the program. Tanner Hunt, Greensboro College Middle College, received the Spirit Award for exhibiting enthusiasm and having a strong, creative influence on the program.

Youth Leadership Greensboro is co-sponsored by the Greensboro Youth Council of the Greensboro Parks & Recreation Department, Greensboro Radiology, Greensboro Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Programs, Senior Leadership Greensboro, Crescent Rotary, Greensboro Tile and Stone, Bank of North Carolina, Renaissance, and Carroll Companies.

Each year, Youth Leadership Greensboro accepts 36 high school students (sophomores, juniors or seniors) and home-school students.
