13th Annual National Trails Day Set for June 5 at Bur-Mil Park
GREENSBORO, NC -- (May 27, 2010) -- Join outdoor enthusiasts on Saturday, June 5, at Bur-Mil Park, 5834 Bur-Mil Club Rd., for Greensboro Trails' biggest event of the year and it’s all free!
National Trails Day, hosted by the City's Parks and Recreation Department, is part of a nationally celebrated event packed with great activities like geocaching, multiple hikes, kayak demos, a bike clinic and ride, vendor fair, free raffle, live music, food, and more. This year there will also be a 5K trails fund-raising foot race -- part trail, part greenway, which is why it's called Trail Mix 5K. Come discover and celebrate the City's trails while participating in educational exhibits, technical demonstrations, and other trail-related activities.
The long hike begins at 7:30 am, the short hike begins at 9 am and both depart from the Wildlife Center. The 5K kicks off at 8:30 am and the vendor fair starts with the 5K awards ceremony at 10 am. For a full schedule of event activities, visit www.greensboro-nc.gov/trailsday.
