City Officials to Take Neighborhood Walking Tours
GREENSBORO, NC (June 10, 2010) – City Manager Rashad Young and other members of the City of Greensboro’s executive team will hit the streets this month to tour neighborhoods in each of the five City Council districts to get residents’ perspectives on what it’s like to live in Greensboro. The walks are part of a new City pilot project called the Neighborhood Walks Program that aims to provide opportunities for community leaders and residents to discuss issues that are important to them with the City’s executive team. The walks are planned to take place twice annually.
The first walking tour will be held in District 1 on Thursday, June 10, at 5:30 pm in the Warnersville neighborhood. View a map of the route.
Dates and locations of the other four walking tours are as follows:
- Thursday, June 17, 5:30 pm in the Aycock neighborhood (District 2)
- Thursday, June 24, 5:30 pm in the Fisher Park neighborhood (District 3)
- Monday, June 28, 5:30 pm in the Meadowoods neighborhood (District 5)
Each tour will last two hours with breaks for refreshments and discussion. Route details will be released prior to each walking tour.
