Future Cents Project Ends Season with an Informational Celebration

GREENSBORO, NC -- (November 16, 2010) -- Greensboro Public Library's financial education project for young people called Future Cents ends its first season with an informational celebration open to the public 3:30-5:30 pm Saturday, November 20, at Central Library, 219 N. Church St.

The event is for teens and their families who participated in this Future Cents this year and those who want to learn more about the program for next year. Program vendors will provide games, activities and prizes for the celebration.

“This free event is a fun way to wrap up the Future Cents program for 2010 while promoting awareness of community organizations who share our mission of providing life and money management skills to young people,” says project coordinator Martha Larson. “Future Cents has helped young people understand they have control over their money and the importance of working toward achieving financial security."

Future Cents was made possible by a grant from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). FINRA regulates all securities firms doing business in the United States. The grant program, administered by the American Library Association, is funded by the proceeds of fines that have been levied by FINRA against securities firms for wrongdoing.
