Human Relations Department Offers Assistance with Workforce Issues
GREENSBORO, NC (February 15, 2011) – The City of Greensboro’s Human Relations Department (HRD) and Commission (HRC) has launched a new initiative to assist small business owners with creating a sustainable workforce. The “Partnering with Business” initiative provides free training and education on fair employment laws and other consulting services.
“The purpose of Partnering with Business is four-fold,” says Kevin Williams, HRC Employment Committee Chair. “It is designed to assist business owners in increasing workforce stability, minimizing employee attrition, reducing organizational liabilities, and facilitating a diverse workforce through inclusive workplace management practices.”
The services provided through the initiative include training, consultation, and mediation. According to Williams, the focus is for the HRD and HRC to educate employers and small business owners in an effort to overcome or prevent employment law issues. “We’re really trying to help employers and small business owners learn what they need to know about inclusive and fair practices in a proactive manner, before problems arise that could have been easily solved.”
For more information about the initiative or to schedule an appointment with an HRD representative, contact Robert Nunn at the City’s Human Relations Department at 336-373-2038.
