MPO Updating Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Greenway Master Plan

Greensboro, NC (May 2, 2011) - The Greensboro Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is in the process of updating the region’s Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Greenway Master Plan (BiPed Plan) and is offering public workshops to provide residents an opportunity to learn about BiPed accomplishments.

The BiPed Plan recommends bicycle, pedestrian, and greenway improvements for the Greensboro Urban Area. The BiPed update goals include noting accomplishments since adoption, streamlining content for easier readability, and updating BiPed priorities.

Three public workshops about the BiPed Plan are scheduled. In addition to plan accomplishments and updates, the workshops provide residents an opportunity to refine, expand, and prioritize the original BiPed recommendations.  The dates and locations for the workshops include:

• May 5, 5-7 pm, at Community in Christ Presbyterian Church, 5401 Liberty Rd.
• May 10, 5-7 pm, at Bur-Mil Clubhouse, 5834 Bur-Mil Club Rd.
• May 12, 11 am-1 pm, at Central Library, 219 N. Church St.

Residents can learn more about the BiPed update at gsosharestheroad.org and offer comments online. Comments will also be accepted by phone, fax, or mail by contacting Peggy Holland at 336-373-2921.
