Greensboro Battalion Chief Receives Chief Fire Officer Designation

GREENSBORO, NC (March 22, 2011) – Greensboro Fire Department Battalion Chief Chris Bowman has receive the Chief Fire Officer designation from the Commission on Professional Credentialing. He is one of 749 fire professionals honored with the designation worldwide. Bowman has been a member of the Greensboro Fire Department for nearly 27 years.

The designation is given only when an individual meets all of the criteria. A comprehensive peer review is used to evaluate the candidates, including assessment of the applicants’ education, experience, professional development, technical competencies, contributions to the profession, and community involvement. Applicants also must have a future professional development plan. The commission consists of individuals from academia, federal and local government, and the fire and emergency medical services profession.
