City Manager Hosts Meeting with City Employees
GREENSBORO, NC (April 7, 2011) – Greensboro City Manager Rashad M. Young will meet with employees to discuss City management at 9 am, Friday, in the Odeon Theatre at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, 1921 W. Lee St. Young will focus his presentation on the steps the City is taking to maintain and enhance its service offerings to Greensboro’s residents.
According to Young, while the City is moving forward with plans to reduce the budget by $18 million for fiscal year 2011-12, its emphasis on positively impacting the lives of Greensboro’s residents remains a major target. “We’re all facing a difficult economic climate, but the fact remains that the City is served by outstanding employees who can make a difference in the lives of Greensboro’s residents. Our mantra is based on service excellence and ensuring that every interaction our residents and business customers have with the City’s government and its employees is exceptional.”
Young’s presentation will detail the City’s efforts to find efficient, effective and economic ways to maximize its existing resources. He will overview steps taken to generate economic development opportunities, like the creation of the Development Services Center, enhance service offerings, like the reorganization of the police department, and create programs that build stronger relationships with Greensboro residents, like neighborhood walks. Young will also provide an overview of a new plan, called MAP, designed to better manage the City’s resources, increase transparency, and accomplish its strategic goals.
“The City has taken strategic steps, with little or no impact on the budget, to maximize our resources and improve our service offering,” says Young. “We want Greensboro residents to know that we are continually working to find efficiencies in service delivery, use existing resources to improve services, and encouraging businesses to expand and grow within our city limits.”
