Reader's Digest RV Tour Stops by Greensboro January 24
GREENSBORO, NC (January 21, 2011) – The City of Greensboro is receiving a $1,000 check from Reader’s Digest as part of its “We Hear You America Tour.” A Reader’s Digest representative will present Greensboro Mayor Bill Knight with the check during a 10 am ceremony Monday, January 24.
Reader’s Digest is sending representatives to 100 cities across the country in 100 days, to donate money to communities that have been impacted by the economic recession. In Greensboro, City Council members decided to split the $1,000 evenly between the City’s Urban Ministry and Interactive Resource Center (IRC).
“We have so many worthwhile organizations in Greensboro, but we could not think of a better way to support and recognize the Urban Ministry and IRC than to offer them this money,” says Knight. “We’re appreciative of Reader’s Digest for its generosity and I’m proud of the Greensboro community for the way everyone continues to work together to emerge from the economic downturn.”
As part of the We Hear You America program, Reader’s Digest is offering $40,000 to the city or town that receives the most “cheers” on its contest website. Visitors to the website are allowed to vote up to ten times per day through the end of the contest on February 7.
