City Reports Untreated Sewage Discharge
GREENSBORO, NC -- (January 23, 2011) -- The City of Greensboro reports a discharge of approximately 3,000 gallons of untreated wastewater from a sewer main located at 3835 Raintree Dr. The discharge occurred for about five and a half hours on January 21, and was due to an eight-inch main stopped with grease. The untreated wastewater entered South Buffalo 2 tributary of the Haw River basin. The main was unstopped with a Vactor-Sewer Jet Truck to prevent further discharge. Several fire hydrants were open for fresh water to flush the creek and lime was spread on surface areas.
