Library Offers January 25 Credit Workshop for Teens and Parents
GREENSBORO, NC (January 20, 2011) -- The next Future Cents financial education event is "Credit 101," a free workshop to help teens and their parents manage credit wisely. It takes place 6:30-7:30 pm Tuesday, January 25, in the Cultural Arts Center's first floor boardroom, 200 N. Davie St.
Shelia Dalcoe, a NC Cooperative Extension family and consumer educator, will offer advice for avoiding the pitfalls of credit and discuss the advantages of establishing good credit, important lessons for people of all ages. Teens need to learn how to properly establish credit and why it is significant to their future and adults need to learn how to check, repair and maintain a good credit history.
Future Cents is a grant-funded project that allows the Greensboro Public Library and community partners to develop teen-oriented workshops and a website - www.myfuturecents.com - offering information on a wide range of financial issues. The project aims to help teens make the changes necessary to live beyond today and invest in their futures.
