NC Metro Mayors Meeting Coming to Greensboro February 24-25

GREENSBORO, NC (February 21, 2011) – The City of Greensboro will host mayors and city managers from the North Carolina Metropolitan Mayor’s Coalition February 24-25 at the Proximity Hotel. The meeting will include guest speakers Governor Beverly Perdue, US Senator Kay Hagan, State Speaker of the House Thom Tillis, and Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger.

According to event host Greensboro Mayor William H. Knight, the meeting comes at a sensitive juncture as state and city governments are planning for severe budget constraints in 2011-12. “This meeting offers a great opportunity to share ideas and solutions at a critical time in the budget process,” says Knight. “I look forward to meeting with our state officials and also to showcasing Greensboro’s efforts to provide economic incentives and job growth.”

On the heels of the recent release of Gov. Perdue’s budget, mayors and managers will participate in a state budget briefing on Thursday, February 24. Perdue and Hagan will be the guest speakers at Thursday’s lunch, Tillis will be the guest speaker at Thursday night’s legislative awards dinner, and Berger will be guest speaker for a legislative breakfast meeting on Friday, February 25.
